Jan. 12-16 ’08 Language Arts Syllabus Mrs. Switski
Announcements: Progress Reports go home Friday 1/16/09.
Mon. class
1. Extra credit points for signed syllabus or planner.
2. Review the syllabus and copy assignments into planner.
3. Turn in title of Jan. book – biography or autobiography
4. Meet Wm. Shakespeare – take notes on his life. New packet.
5. Intro Jigsaw stations – begin reading information to share with the other groups.
HW Find 5 facts about William Shakespeare – write them up to share with the class.

Tues. class
1. Finish reading jigsaw sections – report to class.
2. Compile the group’s list of 5 facts about Shakespeare into a single list.
HW Work packet – define these terms: paradox, allusion, soliloquy, sonnet, iambic pentameter.
Write definitions on pg. 4 – Glossary pg. - in the blank column.

Wed. class
1. Finish sharing jigsaw information.
2. Shakespeare warm-ups. Globe theater.
HW Vocab. For Act 1 – write sentences for the words, using 2 of the words in a sentence.

Thur. class
1. Begin reading Act. 1. Begin keeping a summary journal – summarize what we read in class.
HW Finish summary journal for what we read in class.

Fri. class
1. Finish Act 1. Complete pgs. 7 & 8 in yellow packet.
